I think I can feel my brain cells wasting away...

I just spent the last three days watching the entire first season of 24. That's right, 24 45-minute episodes in a period of 72 hours... I've never experienced an addiction in my life, but I think this is what it must feel like. I can't tell you how many times I told myself "ok, this is the last one for the night..." Little did I know that I was already in way over my head.

Soooooo, if anyone has a copy of season two I could borrow, that would be great...

Masters Degree, Schmasters Degree...

Isn't graduate school supposed to be the time one masters one's craft so they can enter the professional world at a higher pay rate quickly after graduation?

Next year, I start my journey into the professional world of performing arts, masters degree in hand, and I will most likely be waiting tables for a good while... What doesn't help is that I still haven't defined my voice type. As of 3 weeks ago, I was solidly in the land of baritones, but then my voice teacher decided he wanted to re-open tenor possibilities. Don't get me wrong, if the tenor thing pans out, nothing but good will come out of it, but the current uncertainty with my looming graduation is rather stressful to say the least. Thank god for my musical theater class, these songs are keeping me sane for the moment since they really don't care how I classify myself...

I love my career, and I can't see myself doing anything else, but some stability every once in a while would be nice...

Worst Movie Ever...

So my friends and I have recently started getting together somewhat regularly to watch movies that fall under the "so awful they're brilliantly funny" category. We started with a double feature of Yes, Giorgio (the only movie Luciano Pavarotti ever made) and the broadyway musical Jekyll and Hyde starring David Hasselhoff. Last weekend we watched the magnificent Camp, a horribly scripted and acted movie about some kids at a musical theater summer camp (IFC Films, what were you thinking???), though some of the singing was pretty good... If you are at all involved in the performing arts, or if you aren't and just want a laugh, I highly recommend these movies. Next on the schedule is From Justin to Kelly, the movie made with the winners of the first American Idol (and ranked #11 in imdb.com's bottom 100 movies of all time list)...

If anyone has any ideas for future features, I'd love to hear them. They've all been musicals so far (mainly because we're all music students) but that doesn't mean they have to be, bad taste doesn't discriminate, and neither do I.

Everyone else is doin' it...

So I've given in to temptation and decided to start my blog... Welcome.
